Help Fund Milton Historical Society Projects:
The Milton Historical Society has many projects we are working on, but we need your help to reach our goals. When giving a donation to the Milton Historical Society, you can tell us what project you would like your donation/memorial money to go toward. We are always in need of General Operating, but if you are looking for a project to help with here is what we have needs for:
SAVE The Blacksmith Shop
Our Blacksmith Shop is the oldest grout building in Milton, predating the Milton House. The building today is falling down and has been declared unsafe. We are hoping the building makes it through the harsh winter and we will need to focus on renovating the building beginning in 2014. We have begun to receive donations toward this project and estimate it to be around $250,000, if not more, to SAVE the building. If you would like more information or would like to donate toward the Blacksmith Shop, please call 608.868.7772
Keeping the lights on, the doors open, the water running, the heat/air conditioning running, pay staff, fund events, programming, community outreach, brochures, advertising, up-keep of the building, etc.
Hiring a mural artist to paint an Underground Railroad mural from the second floor stairwell to the basement of the Milton House, depicting Joseph & Ezra Goodrich, the Seventh Day Baptist Church Doctrine, Slavery and the North Star
To make a donation please write checks out to Milton Historical Society, if you would like your money to go towards a specific project, indicate which project on the comment line.
