Researching Your Milton, Wisconsin Ancestors
Local historical societies and genealogical centers often have a limited staff
and hours. To avoid a disappointing visit, schedule an appointment at a time
that is convenient to both you and the organization. It is often better to
inquire by letter. Be aware there is often a charge for research. (Milton

Provide the following: full given name (maiden name), approximate birth date,
approximate time living in the area, approximate location where they lived for
example; Harmony, Johnstown, etc.) and the year of death is also helpful. this
information may be found in oral family history, family documents, passports,
letters, bible inscriptions, public records, military records, U.S. Census
records, etc.

inter-library loan, Latter Day Saints records on microfilm. This is not just LDS
genealogy.

Milton Historical Society Research Policy
- Research by appointment only.
Our Society does not have a research staff member and research is done when
extra staff time is available. Your appointment will be scheduled to
accommodated both you and the staff. The microfilm is available for your use
with a charge for copies only.
- Research by staff member.
The society will do research for you at a minimum cost of $10.00 and $10.00
for each additional hour, plus 25 cents per photocopy. Copies of obituaries
are $2.00 each. Most research is done during winter months when the Museum
is closed and depends on the staff time availability. These charges include
looking up cemetery locations, genealogies, obituaries and other news
articles.
You must know your ancestors--Full real name (maiden
name); approximate birth date; approximate time living in the Milton area;
approximate location of residence (for example: Harmony, Johnstown, etc.); year
of death is also helpful.
Please be aware that you will be charged research time
whether or not we are able to located the information your are
requesting.< The staff of the Milton Historical Society enjoys helping
